NOTE: The CHC is delaying the Rising Leaders Conference until November, because of the short-term uncertainties surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. CHC will resume active promotion for the conference during the summer — stay tuned here or check the CHC website for updates.
With the presidential election looming on the horizon, numerous security breaches in the pharma industry, the current administration’s position on loosening FDA regulations, and more, 2020 is a pivotal year for healthcare policy.
“What happens this year and after the votes are counted will make a big difference,” says the Coalition for Healthcare Communication (CHC).
So, rather than sit back and let the chips fall where they may, the folks at CHC are hosting the fifth annual Rising Leaders Conference on Healthcare Policy on May 18 and 19, 2020, at the National Press Club in Washington DC.
The conference promises to get attendees up to speed on what health marketing and communications professionals are thinking and talking about, and will include a panel of agency leaders who will discuss how health policy in Washington affects careers in our industry. The following speakers, with more to be added soon — and announced via email — are also on the schedule:
- Kate Rawson, senior editor of Prevision Policy, will discuss “Health policy in the 2020 elections — and beyond,” including what policies and people are likely to change, depending on the outcome of the vote.
- Nancy Bradish Myers, a former FDA official who is now president of Catalyst Healthcare Consulting, will speak on “Priorities for the new FDA Commissioner,” including what’s likely on regulation of promotional messages, changes in drug approval processes, the drug price agenda, protecting the drug supply chain, and other issues.
- Dale Cooke, president of PhillyCooke Consulting, will offer insights on FDA regulation of promotion on social media and the Internet.
- Jon Bigelow, executive director of CHC, will speak on the impact of drug pricing legislation on health marketing and communications.
“We also will have presentations on the latest developments on federal regulation of data privacy and security, and on drivers of healthcare costs, as well as a dinner keynoter,” says Bigelow.
The Coalition for Healthcare Communication (of which Intouch Group is a member) was founded in 1991 and promotes the free exchange of accurate, credible scientific and medical information for the benefit of medical professionals and consumers.
Tuition for the conference includes reception, dinner, breakfast, and lunch, and is $700 for staff of Coalition member companies, and $800 for non-members.
