Design & Art Direction (D&AD), an international nonprofit design and advertising organization, has chosen our “Erase the Line” campaign for The Chrysalis Initiative for its Future Impact short list.
This honor is given “for early-stage designs and initiatives recognized for their potential to drive change” – and it’s far more than just an award!
Shortlisted Future Impact Entrants receive a place on the D&AD Impact Programme, which not only provides them with expert mentoring and training, but also the opportunity to apply for a D&AD Impact Fund grant, worth up to £25,000!
Erase the Line for The Chrysalis Initiative is centered around a first-of-its-kind digital platform for, and by, Black women fighting breast cancer – who are 40% more likely to die from the disease than their white counterparts in the United States, due to disparities of care that result from racism and systemic bias in the healthcare system.
The platform provides tools to help women identify the caliber of cancer support they should be getting, to rate and review the cancer care they are receiving, and to help them find hospitals committed to providing equal care to Black women. It was accompanied by multimedia creative to spread the word and help more Black women become aware of this resource.
Since the campaign launch in October 2021, The Chrysalis Initiative has seen a 50% rise in clinical-trial enrollment, a 90% reported increase in women’s confidence in their treatment, and a 100% reported improvement in their receiving standard-of-care treatment.
The winners of the D&AD awards will be announced May 25 & 26, 2022.
